American Healthcare System

Statement

Date: Jan. 29, 2016

America is one of the greatest countries in the world that offers their citizens plenty of opportunities. However, the American healthcare system is sorely lacking. Millions of Americans realize that a change in the American Healthcare system was needed for them to survive. The fact is that the healthcare system seems to be on the side of the big insurance companies and against the people. There are literally millions of Americans that are turned down every day for health care insurance because the big insurance conglomerates do not want to cover certain people with preexisting conditions. Insurance companies look for excuses to simply dismiss people and cancel their insurance, leaving them out in the cold. Certainly, we require laws to protect the people against the insurance companies mishandling claims and canceling policies for the most insignificant reasons. In other words, we desperately need patient centered insurance coverage.

Uninsured Americans

Statistics show that there are nearly 46 million Americans without insurance in this country. A reform act should make high quality health insurance available and at an affordable price for the uninsured and their family. This insurance should continue whether or not their current employment status changes. Many of the uninsured are self employed people or underemployed people that do not have a company health insurance plan to fall back on. Most of the insured have employee provided health insurance.

The Healthcare System reform should also reduce healthcare cost for people. The reform act should eliminate the opportunity for big insurance companies to try different tactics to raise their profits by canceling health benefits to those in need. In the long run, the hope is that the American Healthcare System reform will provide protection and coverage to American citizens now and well into their retirement years. Thus, reducing discrimination and bias based on previous conditions and age.
